Bhubaneswar: At least three persons succumbed to Covid-19 while 264 tested positive for the virus in Odisha in the last 24 hours. With this, the Covid-19 death toll rose to 21 and total cases in the State touched 6614 on Sunday.

A 75-year-old male coronavirus patient of Ganjam district who was also suffering from diabetes and hypertension died while undergoing treatment, informed the State health department.

Similarly, a 65-year-old male from Cuttack district succumbed to the virus. He was suffering from diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease.

The third victim was a 73-year-old male patient of Bhubaneswar, who was suffering from diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease, the health department added.

Out of the 264 fresh cases reported from 22 districts across Odisha today, 234 were detected from quarantine centres while 30 are local contact cases, informed the State I & PR Department.

Ganjam reported highest 76 Covid-19 cases followed by Jajpur (41) cases, Keonjhar (25), Jharsuguda (18), Bargarh (18), Khurda (15), Balasore (12), Cuttack (12) and Puri (7). Jagatsighpur, Angul and Sundargarh reported four cases each, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, and Bolangir reported two cases each while Koraput, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Gajapati, Kalahandi and Sambalpur districts reported one each case.

A total of 5,907‬ RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative tests to 255809. The active cases in the State now stood at 1980 while 4606 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
