Cuttack: A police station in Cuttack district on Sunday was declared as a containment zone after an inspector-in-charge tested positive for COVID-19.

The concerned police official is posted in Athagarh sub-division and his swab sample which was collected for test came out positive for coronavirus, informed Athagarh SDPO Alok Ranjan Ray.

As seven to eight other personnel of the concerned police station are suffering from fever, their swabs will be collected by health officials today.

Athagarh SDPO’s swab will also be collected for COVID-19 test as he had recently visited the police station during Rath Yatra.Official sources said swabs of as many as 22 officers and other staff of the police station will be collected for COVID-19 tests.

The concerned police station in Athagarh sub-division was sanitised yesterday and the process will be continued for two to three days. Additional manpower will be sourced from Cuttack district to ensuring regular functioning of the police station.
