Bhubaneswar: More troubles seem to be in store for Akash Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Pathak, who is presently cooling his heels at the Jharpada jail following arrest on charges of cheating scores of people by promising them jobs at Tata Motors.

The Commissionerate Police is contemplating obtaining Akash’s custody to carry out further investigation in connection with the alleged cheating and forgery case.

While talking to reporters, Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi on Tuesday said, “We will soon move court seeking remand of Akaksh Pathak.”

Sarangi further said once Akash is brought on custodial remand, the Commissionerate Police will collect specimen of his signatures and sent those to a lab for examination.

Akash’s signature will then be matched with the signature/s he put on the appointment letters issued by him using Tata Motor’s letterhead.

It was earlier alleged that Akash Pathak had duped several youths on the pretext of providing them jobs at Tata Motors. Akash had allegedly committed the offence by posing himself as the managing director (I/C) of the Tata Motors, Passenger Vehicle Division, Pune.

Akash was arrested by the Crime Branch last month on a complaint filed by Tata Motors.
The Twin City Police Commissioner today said Tata Motors had earlier clarified that Akash Pathak was not a bonafide employee of the company.

In a statement, the Tata Motors Spokesperson had clarified that, “Mr Akash Kumar Pathak is not a bonafide employee of Tata Motors Limited. It was brought to our attention that he was impersonating as the MD(I/C), Tata Motors Limited, Passenger Vehicle, Pune, and seeking money from gullible persons under a fake enticement to provide Jobs in Tata Motors Limited. Accordingly, the Company lodged an FIR having # 0026, dated 23/09/2020 at 20:33 HRS before the CIDCB, Cuttack, Odisha.”
