Bhubaneswar: With the Crime Branch and Enforcement Directorate gradually tightening noose on the Pathaks, Akash, the son of arrested IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak on Saturday hinted towards a conspiracy against his family.

Akash while being taken for his production before the court, told reporters that he was working with the Tata motors but now the company is not supporting him.

“It is a conspiracy against me and my family. We are not allowed to speak anything now. I will reveal everything and give all the details after I come out,” said Akash.

Both Akash and his father Abhay Kant Pathak were sent to jail after they were produced before the court upon completion of their remand period today.

The Vigilance department has not sought further remand for the father-son duo who has been accused of acquiring disproportionate assets and cheating people on the pretext of providing jobs.

“There is some conspiracy. We have necessary evidence which will be revealed at the right time,” said suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak.

Earlier, the Tata Motors had filed an FIR against Akash alleging that he had taken huge amount of money fraudulently from unemployed youths on the pretext of proving them jobs at the Tata Motors Limited.

Akash allegedly impersonated himself as MD of Tata Motors Pune Passenger Division and CEO designate, read the FIR copy.

It is pertinent to mention here that Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi, who was earlier expelled by the BJD for anti-people activity, was arrested on Thursday by the Crime Branch on the charges of fraud.

As per the release earlier issued by the Crime Branch, Panigrahi too had collected money on behalf of Akash Pathak by making false promise of providing jobs to people at the Tata Motors.

Later in the day, Tata Motors Spokesperson in a statement said, "Mr Akash Kumar Pathak is not a bonafide employee of Tata Motors Limited. It was brought to our attention that he was impersonating as the MD(I/C), Tata Motors Limited, Passenger Vehicle, Pune, and seeking money from gullible persons under a fake enticement to provide Jobs in Tata Motors Limited. Accordingly, the Company lodged an FIR having # 0026, dated 23/09/2020 at 20:33 HRS before the CIDCB, Cuttack, Odisha.”
