Bhubaneswar: One of the accused in the brutal murder of a sweet stall owner in Samantarapur area of Bhubaneswar on October 4, surrendered before the lower court on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Raja, surrendered before the court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) in Bhubaneswar today. Another accused involved in the murder is still on the run, sources said.

The police, meanwhile, said they will take the accused on remand for further questioning in connection with the murder case.

On October 4, the accused had chased and brutally hacked sweet stall owner, Jambu Sahu to death in the middle of the road over suspected business rivalry. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed near the spot.

Following the incident, traders’ association and locals had blocked the Bhubaneswar-Puri road demanding arrest of the assailants.
