Paralakhemundi: In yet another heart-wrenching incident, a stray dog was brutally beaten to death by three persons in Gajapati district triggering resentment. The shocking incident which was reported from Bata Gouda Sahi in Paralakhemundi area was caught on tape and later the video went viral on social media.

Several people, intellectuals and members of Bhubaneswar-based People For Animals condemned such cruelty towards animals and pressed for stern action against the guilty.

Bibekananda Swain, senior officer of Paralakhemundi Police Station informed that police had registered a case taking Suo Motu cognizance of the incident.

“From social media, we came across the viral video and during investigation, we found the allegations true. Later, we apprehended three persons in connection with the incident,” said Swain.

Swain further informed that all of them have been served notices under section 41(a) of CrPC.

Earlier in April this year, a pregnant stray dog was beaten to death by a woman in Bhubaneswar. The incident subsequently sparked a massive outrage with civil society and animal lovers organising a protest march demanding justice for the stray dog, which was named April as she was brutally beaten to death in the month of April.
