Bhubaneswar: Six persons were arrested after the charred body of a missing student was found on Monday near Chandaka sanctuary on the outskirts of the city.
The parents of the student, Tara Pranab Singh, informed the police on October 20 that their son was missing since October 13 and also that he and another student Dipak Pradhan were both in love with the same girl, Khurda Superintendent of Police, Dayanidhi Gochhayat said.
"We zeroed in on Pradhan after the family members narrated the love triangle. Singh's parents told us that Pradhan used to threaten their son to keep away from the girl," Gochhayat said.
Pradhan led the police to the spot where he and five friends with the driver of a van allegedly kidnapped Singh on October 13 following which he was strangulated to death and his body set on fire, the SP said. The five friends and the van driver were also arrested, he said.
