Cuttack/Sambalpur: Mangalabagh police on Thursday busted a prostitution racket operating from a house in Ranihat area of Cuttack and arrested three persons.

Acting on a tip-off, Manglabagh police and a special squad raided the house located in Gopalsahi of Ranihat area. The owner of the house, Sukant Nayak alias Mitua, who is said to be the mastermind of the illicit trade and two customers were arrested from the house during the raid.

One woman engaged in the flesh trade was also rescued. Several objectionable items were seized from the house during the raid, sources said.

Mitua, who has been running the flesh trade for a long time, was arrested earlier as well. Meanwhile, questions are being raised as to how the sex racket was running right under the nose of Manglabagh police.

In a related incident, sex rackets operating at two different places under Dhanupali area in Sambalpur district were busted today. Four girls engaged in the fresh trade have been rescued by the police. Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the owners of the houses where the illicit trades were going on.

Yesterday, the Commissionerate Police unearthed a sex racket operating from an apartment in Laxmi Sagar area of the State Capital city and took four people into custody.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police raided the apartment in Laxmi Sagar area and caught two girls one of whom, is a resident of Puri and believed to be the kingpin of the flesh trade. The other girl is reportedly a local of Kendrapara. Two other youths identified as customers from Ganjam district have also been detained from the apartment.
