Sambalpur: At a time when crimes against women and minor girls are on the rise in Odisha, multiple sex rackets are also being busted in different parts of the State. In yet another sensational incident, police busted a sex racket running from a rented house in Shakti Nagar under Ainthapalli police limits in Sambalpur on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, Ainthapalli police along with a special squad of district police conducted a raid on a house and arrested seven persons involved in allegedly running a sex racket.

Apart from this, police detained five girls and one woman from the spot.

“Illegal activities were going on in a house in Brundaban Bihar. After a special squad raided the house, a few persons were found in a compromising position. Seven girls along with five youths have been taken into custody. A few objectionable items were also recovered from the house. Further verification is on,” stated Chintamani Pradhan, Ainthapalli PS IIC.

“Locals, after seeing suspicious movement in the area, informed us following which we conducted a raid. However, we are verifying about the owner of the house,” added Pradhan.

Meanwhile, one among the five youths arrested alleged police of falsely incriminating him in the case. “I was standing on the road close to the house and police has forcefully detained me. I am from MP and I had come here in search of a house. They are trying to incriminate me,” he alleged.

As per reports, multiple sex rackets have been going on in different parts of the State as two days back the Commissionerate Police had busted a major sex racket running from a Hair Spa in Kharavela Nagar in Bhubaneswar.
