Bhubaneswar: Self-styled godman and Trahi Achyuta Ashram chief Surendra Mishra alias Sura Baba passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday night.

The controversial self-styled godman was suffering from multiple ailments and undergoing treatment in a private hospital in the capital city for the last 20 days. He had tested negative for Covid-19.

Following his death yesterday night, Sura Baba's mortal remains were taken to Trahi Achyuta Ashram at Jhintisasan  in Khordha district where his followers have started visiting to pay their last respect to the tainted self-styled godman.

His mortal remains will be cremated in the backyards of his ashram, said reports.

Controversial self-styled Godman Sura Baba was arrested in 2015 for indulging in various illegal activities including series of allegations of sexual exploitations. He was later released from jail in December, 2017.
