Bhubaneswar: Amid the massive public outrage over the alleged lackadaisical investigation into the abduction and subsequent murder of 5-year-old girl ‘Pari’ in Nayagarh district, a seven-year-old girl from the Capital City has jumped on the bandwagon as well.
Seeking justice for the family of the deceased, little girl Ashwini and her friend rode bicycles from Nandan Bihar to Naveen Niwas and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
“In my letter to the Chief Minister, I have requested him to take necessary steps for expediting the investigation process into Pari murder case,” said Ashwini.
“I will also write letters to the Prime Minister and President in this regard,” she added.
It is worth mentioning that Pari was abducted on July 13 and her skeletal remains were found in a sack from the backyard of her house 10 days after her abduction.
Though Pari’s parents had lodged a complaint with the police, the latter allegedly did not act against the accused. Parents of Pari had attempted to self-immolation in front of the Assembly during the Winter Session, protesting against the inaction of the police and demanding justice.
The incident had created a furore in the House with Opposition BJP and Congress stalling the proceedings for several days.
The State Government had first ordered a Crime Branch inquiry and later, bowing to pressure, it ordered a court-monitored SIT probe headed by IGP Arun Bothra.
