Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Kumar Rout has tested positive for COVID-19. Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena had earlier tested positive for the virus.

Rout has informed about getting infected with the virus through a social media post. He informed that he is under home isolation and his condition is stable.

Meanwhile, he has requested people, who had come in contact with him in the last few days, to get themselves tested, if necessary.

Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo and Chandbali MLA Byomkesh Ray on Monday informed that they tested positive for COVID-19 with the latter (Byomkesh) expressing regret for failing to serve the flood-affected people of his constituency.

On Sunday, BJD leader and Badamba MLA Debi Prasad Mishra had tested positive for COVID-19.

Among others, BJD MLA Sudhansu Sekhar Parida (Remuna), Soumya Ranjan Patnaik (Khandapada), Srikant Sahu (Polsara), Prasant Behera (Salipur) and Susant Singh (Bhatli) had contracted the virus earlier.

Apart from the ruling party legislators, two BJP lawmakers- Sukanta Nayak (Nilgiri) and Suresh Pujari (Bargarh MP)- had also tested positive for the virus.
