Bhubaneswar: Odisha Rural Development, Labour & Employees’ State Insurance Minister and BJD leader, Susanta Singh has tested positive for Covid-19.

Singh, who is the first minister in the State cabinet to have tested positive for Covid-19, took to the Twitter to confirm the news. He urged those who came in contact with him recently to isolate and get themselves test for coronavirus.

Earlier on August 8, BJP MP from Bargarh Lok Sabha constituency, Suresh Pujari had tested positive for Covid-19.

Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak was the first MLA in the State to have contracted the disease. After that, Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Polsara MLA Srikant Sahu, Remuna MLA Sudhansu Sekhar Parida and Salipur MLA Prasat Behera were also tested positive for coronavirus.

Odisha’s novel coronavirus tally surged to 62294 on Monday with 2244 new cases, while ten more fatalities pushed the death toll to 353. The State now has 19612 active cases, while 42276 patients have so far recovered from the disease.
