Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday announced to suspend all classes for Class 10, 12 students (2020-21 academic session) from April 19, in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.

Clear instructions have been issued to ensure that no academic work is undertaken in the educational institutions.

The decision comes after the State government announced to postpone all the board examinations including Class 10 (Matriculation) and Plus II exams.

As per an official release, the suspension of classes will be applicable for all schools under the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya Sangathan, government and non-aided and private schools in the State.

The circular issued by the CBSE on April 14 will be applicable to all English medium schools affiliated to CBSE and Odisha Adarsh Vidyalayas. Schools and hostels of these institutions will also remain closed from April 19, the notification added.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced to postpone the upcoming the matriculation and Plus II examinations in view of the Covid-19 situation.
