Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to carry out the silver-plating work of the Sata Pahacha Dwar (gate) first.

The decision to this effect was taken today at a meeting chaired by temple administrator (development), Ajay Kumar Jena.

“The experience gained from the silver coating of the Sata Pahacha gate will be applied for the other gates. Jay Bijaya Dwar, Kalaahat Dwar and Beheran Dwar will be draped with silver during Sri Gundicha,” Jena said.

He said a total of eight gates will be silver-coated in the first phase using 2.5 tonnes of silver.

“In the second phase, decision will be taken on the proposal to silver-coat 15 more gates. The gates will be constructed with Burma teak and as per the Utkal culture and tradition,” Jena added.
