Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has convened a special meeting here this afternoon to discuss with the servitors about the silver makeover of five more doors inside the complex of Lord Jagannath Temple in addition with the three main gates.

According to sources, the opinions of the servitors will be sought in the meeting, which will be chaired by the Chief Administrator of SJTA, and a final decision will be taken regarding the matter.

Puri Srimandir Administrator (Development), Ajay Kumar Jena informed that the gates of Mahalaxmi Temple, Vimala Temple, Nrusingha Temple, Sata Pahacha and Bhoga Mandapa will be draped with silver.

According to official sources, around 2500 kg of silver will be required for the purpose.

Earlier, the silver makeover of three main gates has been finalised. In August, the temple administration had announced to plate the three main gates of Srimandir with silver after a devotee evinced interest to donate 1,920 kg of the precious metal to the temple.

According to sources, a team of the temple administration has already begun the coating work of silver on the three gates – the Beharana Dwara of the main temple, facing the Mukti Mandap, Jaya-Vijaya Dwara of Jagamohan and Kalahata Dwara, facing the sanctum sanctorum.
