Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Bhrugu Buxipatra on Saturday came down heavily on ruling-BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma for raising questions on the truth behind the Kosagumunda minor girl rape and murder case.

Addressing a presser here, Buxipatra questioned how Das Burma could raise doubts over the incident at a time while the post-mortem report is not yet revealed.

"Das Burma and other ruling-BJD leaders are working to save rapists and murderers. Police are also trying to shield the real culprits behind the crime by not taking any action," said Buxipatra.

“How did Das Burma know that the rape and murder did not happen even though we are yet to get the post-mortem report,” Buxipatra questioned.

Earlier on Friday, Das Burma had condemned Congress leader Pradip Majhi for protesting and instigating violence by telling protestors to ‘set everything on fire’ and said that Nabarangpur residents will best judge the comments made by the former Congress MP; however the alleged Kosagumuda minor girl rape and murder incident for which the protest was launched, is not based on facts.

Meanwhile, amid the BJP-BJD war of words over the matter, the family members of the victim minor girl raised scepticism over the police and administration by questioning the delay in getting the post mortem report.

They have alleged that even though 15 days have elapsed since the incident took place, the government is not taking the incident seriously.

Speaking to mediapersons, father of the deceased minor girl on Saturday threatened to commit suicide along with his family members if denied justice.

Kosagumuda Christain Samaj also came forward in support of the victim’s family demanding Das Burma to seek apologies for his comments.

"Without visiting the spot, BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma is making such statements. We will intensify agitation if he (Das Burma) does not apologise," said members of Kosagumuda Christian Samaj.
