Bhubaneswar: Resentment is brewing against Odisha Congress working president Pradeep Majhi for his recent statements against AICC chief, Sonia Gandhi over the ongoing political crisis in Rajasthan.

Senior Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati today stated that “Pradeep Majhi should be immediately expelled from the party.”

Bahinipati further stated that “Be it Pradeep Majhi or anyone who has accused the party’s high command including Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi needs to be expelled as it amounts to gross indiscipline. Those who are speaking against Congress and its high command should be shown the door. Congress is the only party which has given emphasis to youths,” he added.

Party leader Debashish Patnaik stated that several youths have become leaders on Congress platform and after reaping all benefits, they are criticising the party.

“A few youths want to become CM and hold key portfolios in a single day. It is due to their ego that they are turning away from the party. The recent statements of working president are totally condemnable,” said Patnaik.

Patnaik further stated that such kind of statement is least expected from a leader like Pradip Majhi. “He (Pradeep Majhi) should apologise or else action should to be taken against him,” said Debashish

Senior Congress leader Sura Routray said, “Youth leaders are getting greedy. The Scindia family has always betrayed the Congress. It seems Pradeep Majhi has made such remarks in his sleep.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) working president and former MP, Pradeep Majhi courted controversy by blaming AICC chief Sonia Gandhi for the political crisis in Rajasthan. The former Congress MP had said that the one who is leading the party is to be blamed for the present situation of Congress as the responsibility to run the party lies with the president.

“If the Congress party is affected due to the crisis, the blame will be on the party chief (Sonia Gandhi)… A senapati (chief warrior) in a battle is responsible for defeat,” Majhi had said.
