Bhubaneswar: Compassion and humanity will help tide over unprecedented obstacles and an IPS officer from Odisha has not only proved this once, but twice. After helping an autistic kid hundreds of kilometres away in Mumbai get supply of camel milk during COVID19 lockdown, a critical food source for children suffering from autism; IPS officer Arun Bothra, who is currently serving as the CEO of CESU, has again turned saviour for another autistic kid from Berhampur.
Following the intervention of Bothra, the Indian railways transported camel milk from Falna in Rajasthan to Odisha for a kid in Berhampur who is suffering from autism and food allergy.
The milk was transported in two days by the Railways through its Parcel Express via Delhi and Howrah and delivered to the autistic kid's family member at Bhubaneswar Railway station on Thursday evening.
The delivery of the camel milk was part of SETU initiative adopted by the railways to ensure a steady supply of essentials across the country during the ongoing lockdown enforced to contain the spread of coronavirus. It is a voluntary initiative of IRTS (Indian Railway Traffic Service) officers, with about 30 probationers and a handful of young officers.
"The ongoing lockdown has disrupted the supply chains across the country. The objective is to facilitate the movement of goods through Indian Railways’ Parcel Trains, from literally any station to any station." the Railways authorities said in a statement.
Giving details about the initiative, the railways authorities said, "The common man cannot navigate through the maze of modes and thousands of contact numbers to move his goods. SETU, a Unified Helpline and Twitter handle were set up to facilitate the movement of goods using all available modes of transport. All anyone had to do was just call and SETU will work out the movement."
Earlier this month, the Railways had arranged camel milk for a three-year-old child in Mumbai who is suffering from autism and severe food allergies following the intervention of Arun Bothra.
On April 4, Mumbai Chembur based resident Neha Sinha had sought help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet seeking supply of camel milk for her autistic child. In the request, she mentioned about the hardship faced by her divyang child because of unavailability of camel milk, the lifeline for the kid, due to enforced lockdown and his allergy to other food items.
When Bothra came to know about the problems faced by the autistic child, he responded quickly and ensured the delivery of the essential food item to the family of the kid. The act of selfless service by Bothra caught nationwide attention as people from all sections of society heaped praises on the IPS officer.
