Later the former minister took part in House business soon after the Assembly re-assembled.
The Basta legislator was not able to attend the current session of State Assembly since March 15, the day he tendered resignation from council of ministers after his daughter-in-law Barsha Sony Choudhury lodged dowry torture case against him. After 15 days on the run, he was arrested by the HRPC team from Shalimar area of Kolkata and produced before court in Balasore. However, the ex-minister, after spending three nights in judicial custody, was released on bail last Tuesday.
Interestingly, though Mohanty came to Assembly today to participate in question hour after remaining absent for 20 days, he entered the House two minutes late and by the time Speaker had adjourned the House as Congress MLAs created ruckus over amendments to ORV Act.
Congress members stormed into the well and created ruckus demanding withdrawal of ORV Act amendment bill which was recently moved in the Assembly. They shouted anti-government slogans waving placards near the Speaker’s podium. Unable to run the House, Speaker was forced to adjourn it till 11.30am.
