Puri: The 'Baisi Pahacha' or the flight of 22 stairs of Srimandir in Puri will be repaired. A decision on this will be taken after the next Chhattisa Nijog meeting in Srimandir.

As per reports, a team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has already inspected the historic 'Baisi Pahacha' and they will undertake the necessary repair works once a decision on this is taken in the Chhattisa Nijog meeting.

Sources said the steps have suffered damages due to weather conditions and use by devotees over a prolonged period of time. The cracks will be plastered and if needed and the ASI can even go to the extent of replacing the stones in the steps, sources said.

The ASI team has inspected the Mahalaxmi and Bimala temple inside the Srimandir too.
