Private buses stay off roads in Bargarh protesting market complex in new bus terminal

Bargarh: Protesting the alleged illegal construction of a market complex inside the new bus terminal, the Private Bus Owners' Association has been observing a strike without operating buses in the district.

The association alleged that the market complex, which has been built as per the direction of the Bargarh municipality, will cause inconvenience to passengers and create space congestion for movement of buses leading to traffic jam in the area.

Sources said, though the bus owners met the district Collector earlier, the meeting failed to yield any result prompting them to resort to the strike.

As per reports, the body will also stage demonstration outside the Collectorate later in the day.

On the other hand, commuters were left in lurch due to the unavailability of buses since morning. Though government-run buses are available, people are facing difficulties to travel to interior parts of the district where only private buses operate.
