Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: When technology turns a blessing, the world seems to be a far beautiful place to live in. With great power comes great responsibility and that is what social media has turned out to be if we see how a simple tweet changes the lives of many in recent past, the latest being an 80-year-old woman Kamalathal.
At an age when most would find it difficult to even walk, an octogenarian woman, runs a small shop and sells idlis for Re 1 to make it affordable for workers at a village in Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu.
Noted industrialist Anand Mahindra who came to know about Kamalathal recently shared a tweet showing how she was using a wood-burning stove to make idlis. Inspired by her dedication and zeal to work he stated, "One of those humbling stories that make you wonder if everything you do is even a fraction as impactful as the work of people like Kamalathal. If anyone knows her, I’d be happy to invest in the business and buy her an LPG-fuelled stove."
When Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan came across Mahindra's tweet, he instructed officials to ensure an LPG connection for Kamalathal as soon as possible.
A day later, she received the fuel connection and the good news was shared by Pradhan.
“Salute the spirit and commitment of Kamalathal. Glad to having helped her through local OMC officers in getting LPG connection. Society must empower such hard-working people who defy all odds,” Pradhan tweeted.
