Nayagarh: Police personnel busted a major sex racket by visiting a house in the guise of customers in Nayagarh district. As per reports, a team of police raided the house located at Akharia village soon after striking a deal with the owner who was allegedly operating the prostitution racket.

The raid was conducted following allegations regarding the operation of the illegal sex racket in the area.

Two persons have been detained while two women engaged in the illicit trade have been rescued from the spot. Several discriminating articles were also seized during the raid.

Both the women have been shifted to a shelter home after completion of their medical examinations and further investigation in this connection is underway, police said.

On January 20, a sex racket which was operating from an abandoned quarters in Sector-13 of the steel city in Odisha’s Sundergarh district was busted. A team of Sector-15 police conducted a raid on the abandoned house in Rourkela and apprehended four persons from the spot.

On December 27, 2020, Malkangiri police had busted an inter-State racket that used to force minor girls into flesh trade. Six persons including two women from Kolkata were arrested in connection with the incident.
