Bhadrak: Sometimes people do the exact things that are prohibited because it is a human tendency, a behavioural trait that makes humans vulnerable. Disregard to rules is one thing but mass marriage with a gathering of hundreds of people at a time of pandemic is beyond belief.

Bewildering pictures came from Bhadrak’s Basudevpur town where a mass marriage event was organised at the temple near Balinagar Yadav ground. As per reports, no less than 20 marriages were being solemnised simultaneously in the event with a gathering of hundreds of people before the police played spoilsport and warded them off the area.

In a blatant disregard to the COVID-19 norms, nobody in the event was seen taking the trouble of covering his/her face, let alone maintaining social distance for their own wellbeing. Police however reportedly did not take any formal action against the violators.

It becomes pertinent to mention here that the government has laid down strict COVID-19 rules to keep the public safe from Coronavirus.

Especially, at a time when Covid19 is raging across the State infecting more than 500 people on a daily basis, the government’s guideline permits a maximum of 50 persons in a marriage ceremony with adherence to the stringent social distancing norms. Even religious institutions are also shut for the public till July end.
