Nayagarh: The father of 'Pari', Ashok Sahoo has threatened to immolate himself in front of the Naveen Niwas, if the State Government doesn't recommend the CBI to investigate the murder of his five-year-old daughter who was abducted and killed in July this year.

The development came hours after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch arrested one person for his alleged involvement in the dastardly crime.

Sahoo said that the main culprit has not yet been traced by the investigating team and he is still roaming scot-free. "The prime accused needs to be arrested at the earliest failing which the State government would hand over the case to the CBI. If the CBI doesn't investigate the case, I will immolate myself in front of the residence of the Chief Minister," he said.

Sahoo further maintained that the arrest of one accused in the case was made only in view of the Padayatra being taken out by the BJP.

"Justice can't be meted out to Pari by the arrest of only one person. The entire gang involved in the organ smuggling racket should be brought to fore. Only one person is not involved in the heinous crime, but many others have a role in it. Where are they? Sahoo asked.

It may be noted that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by IPS Arun Bothra has arrested one person in connection with the murder of the minor girl.

Through a press release, the SIT confirmed that the accused is a resident of Jadupur in Nayagarh district, which is the native village of the minor girl.

The accused, whose name is yet to be revealed, will be produced before a POCSO court in Nayagarh on Monday, the release stated.

The investigating team has booked the accused under sections 376-A, 376AB, 364, 302, 201 of IPC read with section 6 of POCSO Act.

It is worth mentioning that the SIT had whisked away a man named Saroj Sethy of the same village along with his mother and sister on Saturday. Prior to that, Sethy had accused the SIT chief Arun Bothra of offering him of Rs 5 lakh to take the blame of murdering the minor girl. Sethy claimed that he is being falsely implicated in the case even without his involvement in the incident.

Sethy is suspected to have been arrested even though investigating officials have not made the name of the accused public.

Earlier, the SIT officials interrogated Sethy and conducted polygraph test of his family members.
