Dhenkanal/Berhampur: A team of sleuths from the district branch of Vigilance department today conducted simultaneous raids at the office and houses of Benudhar Nayak, the chief auditor of Forest department, over allegations of acquisition and possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
Acting on a directive from its Cuttack division, the Vigilance team raided the places – Nayak’s office and residence in the town and another house in Angul he owns – and laid their hands on many incriminating documents from there.
At the same time, the State investigative agency also raided the house and office of Digapahandi forest ranger Kishore Kumar Nayak during the day and seized some important documents from his house near Chancharapalli area in Berhampur.
Notably, the Berhampur district forest officer had filed a written complaint against Kishore regarding the irregularities when he was in charge of the Khallikote range of the department.
