Nayagarh: After waiting for 21 years, the Nayagarh district finally received railway connectivity today after the train to Rajsunakhala which flagged off today. The East Coast Railway (ECoR) had decided to extend the Khurda Road-Begunia-Khurda Road passenger trains up to Rajsunakhala in the district.
MP Prasanna Patsani flagged off the train. Senior BJD leaders Pinaki MIshra, Baishnaba Parida, Anang Uday Singhdeo, Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo, Pratyusha Raseswari Singh were are also present during the flag off ceremony.
"Its a big achievement to ensure rail connectivity in this tribe, SC, ST-dominated area," said Patsani.
Notably, the stretch from Begunia to Rajsunakhala is part of the second phase work of Khurda Road-Balangir line.
Elated by the development, locals said that their dreams have finally materialized. The locals also demanded a reservation counter at the Rajsunakhala.
As per the release issued by the ECoR, the Rajsunakhala-Khurda Road passenger will leave Rajsunakhala at 5 am and will reach at Khurda Road at 6.15 am. The passenger train will then leave Khurda Road at 6.45 am and reach Rajsunakhala at 8 am. On the return direction, the passenger train will leave Rajsunakhala at 8.25 am and reach Khurda Road at 9.40 am. Similarly, it will leave Khurda Road at 7.35 pm and will reach Rajsunakhala at 8.50 pm.
