Bhubaneswar: Even as the state government has completed the provisional admission of 124 students of Sardar Rajas medical college few days back as per the directive of the Orissa High Court, students of VIMSAR at Burla denied entry of the Jaring–based medical college students into their institution for document verification for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.
Over a hundred students of VIMSAR locked up main gate of their institution and staged a sit-in in front it, thus not allowing the Sardar Rajas medicos for reporting who have been provisionally selected for admission in the college.
“Why the State government is completing the admission process so hurriedly when the apex court is yet to announce its final order in the matter?” asked a student.
“We are waiting for verdict of the apex court. And then we will decide out next course of action,” stated another student.
Meanwhile, some VIMSAR students today met Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak during the latter’s visit to the city and apprised him about their protest. The minster reportedly assured them to look into the issue.
Notably, challenging the November 18 order of the Orissa High Court to reallocate 124 students of Sardar Rajas, students of VIMSAR and MKCG at Berhampur had filed a miscellaneous case in the Supreme Court.
But adjudicating the case, the apex court on December 16 had refused to stay on the High Court order. The final hearing is on January 5.
On December 23, as per the order of the High Court, the directorate of medical education and training (DMET) completed the provisional admission of 124 students of Sardar Rajas college on the basis of all-India ranks in the entrance exam. It has asked the students to report to their respective colleges before December 30.
