Bhubaneswar: A rape accused, lodged in Jharapada special jail here, today married to the woman he had raped a year ago. Following a court order, the jail officials organized the marriage ceremony for the inmate.
According to sources, hearing a petition filed by the families of both accused Dilip Behera and victim Rajashree Natua, Khurda additional sessions judge on January 22 asked the jail authorities to arrange the marriage of the couple on January 28.
The incident took place on January 23 last year when Dilip offered Rajashree lift as she was waiting for bus. But he took her to an isolated place and outraged her modesty. Later in February, Dilip was arrested by Commissionerate police on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim’s family.
