Khurda: A case has been registered against Jammu-Kashmir-based pharmaceutical company Bibek Pharma at Jatni police station for dumping a large quantities of medicines violating pollution control norms, said Khurda Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Sarada Prasanna Mishra.
“We have filed a complaint against the pharma company after more than 50 cartons of medicine of the private company were found dumped in the Rathipur canal under Ward no.22 of Khurdha municipality,” Mishra said.
“The medicines have been found to be of sub-standard quality. Instead of burying them, the company had dumped it in the canal violating pollution control norms. So we have filed a complaint against the privately-owned medicine manufacturer with Jatni police,” Mishra added.
The company had been blacklisted for three years in the past, the CDMO pointed out.
Notably, large quantities of medicines in more than 50 cartons were found dumped in the Rathipur canal under Ward no.22 of Khurdha municipality on Monday.
The drugs were scattered in the nallah with most of them in good condition.
On being informed about the incident, the CDMO formed a special team to probe the matter.
