Bhubaneswar: The District and Sessions court of Khurda today sentenced to life to all five accused involved in the kidnapping of KIIT University establishment officer Pramod Sahu.
Five accused – Pahali Behera, Dilip Swain, Dilip Pradhan, Suresh Nayak and Manoj Nayak – have also been fined Rs 6,000 each by the court.
The verdict came after examining 27 witnesses and 31 evidences.
Sahu was kidnapped on January 28, 2011, while taking his morning walk near Infocity and taken to a village near Dasapalla forests in Nayagarh district where he was held hostage before a group of locals came to his rescue.
Three of the abductors were captured by the locals who handed them over to the police. Two others, who had managed to flee then, were arrested later.
A whopping Rs 5 crore was said to be the ransom amount the kidnappers had demanded, a source said.
