Puri: Kumbharapada police on Saturday night raided a gambling den near Bholanath Bidyapitha in the Gundicha temple area and arrested 12 persons including a senior Daitapati of Shri Jagannath temple.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Kumbharapda police, led by IIC Krushna Chandra Sethi, raided the house and seized Rs 1,69,280, seven mobile phones and eight bikes from the spot.
The arrested have been identified as Premananda Dasmohapatra, Kalucharan Pratihari, Ratikanta Rath, Santosh Kumar Das, Rama Chandra Jena, Sarat Kumar Barik, Ajay Kumar Nayak, Loknath Nayak, Balabhadra Mohanty, Manoj Kumar Dasmohapatra, Ranjan Kumar Nayak and Surendra Sahu.
“All the arrested persons were later forwarded to court”, Jagannath Pradhan, additional SP, informed the media.
He said the police has started verifying the details of the arrested persons and their profession.
