Bargarh: Though chief minister Naveen Patnaik has directed all the collectors and SPs to prepare an error-free list of beneficiaries of National Food Security Act within a month, the situation at ground level reveals an uphill task for the district administration here.
Out of 14 lakh population in the district, only 4 lakh people have applied till date.
District supply officer Ramakant Ranasingh said beneficiaries will be checked at three levels – panchayat, block and district – by the respective committees. The process will be completed by August 15, he added.
Meanwhile, Subarnapur sub-collector Surya Narayan Das has said that a fresh and error-free list of actual beneficiaries will be announced by September.
