Rayagada: A top woman Maoist cadre surrendered before the Rayagada police on Thursday.
“She is the wife of Prahllad Sabar who was one of the closest aides of Sabyasachi Panda.While the couple was working in Bansadhara Division, Prahllad was accidentally killed by one of his comrades while they had gone to kill Madhab Sabar, a tribal head of Narayanpur village under Padmapur police station limits on October 29, 2000,” the SP informed.
He said seven serious cases are pending against Sukumari notably, the murder of tribal village head Madhab Sardar at Narayanpur village on October 29, 2000, landmine blast at Souraguda and Dhani villages under Gudari police station limits in Rayagada district on October 20,2007, planting of IED explosives at an ME school at Dhepaguda under Gudari police station limits on October 10, 2007, attackon India Reserve Battalion (IRB) camp and mobile tower blast at Chandrapur in the district on May 21, 2010 and killing of Deba Gagaranga, tribal headman of Kumbharigudi village on March 22, 2012.
The SP also informed that afterthe death of her husband, Sukumari had married a Maoist cadre, Prakash Kimbakar alias Betada who left the Maoist outfit and went to Bengaluru but later surrendered before the police in 2012.
“After the surrender of her second husband, Sukumari also left the party and fled to Kerala. She later returned from Kerala and surrendered before the police here,” he added.
Talking to the media persons, the woman Maoist said she wanted to return to the mainstream and take care of her family along with her husband.
