Khurdha: A clerk working under Central Electricity Supply Unit (CESU) in Khurda division and an executive officer of Balimela Notified Area Council (NAC) in Malkangiri district were arrested by vigilance sleuths yesterday on charges of accepting bribe.
The vigilance sleuths caught Rabindra red handed while he was receiving Rs 2,500 from a farmer to provide power connection to the lift irrigation point.
A team of vigilance also raided the government residence of the clerk in Bhubaneswar and his home in Nayagarah. Similarly, the anti-corruption agency arrested the executive officer of Balimela Jayadev Das for taking illegal gratification of Rs 50,000 from a contractor. The team seized the cash and forwarded him to court.
