Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday expressed its displeasure over the inordinate delay in the investigation into the alleged gang rape of a minor girl in Bhubaneswar.
Hearing a petition filed to hand over the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI); the court reportedly rapped the police for dragging its feet over the investigation and said that the probe should be handled by a senior official.
Earlier, on August 30, the mother of the survivor had lodged a formal police complaint. In her complaint, she alleged the involvement of some employees of a media house and police personnel.
Twin city Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi had categorically refused to divulge the names of the accused police personnel citing that the disclosure of the name/s could hamper the probe.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for October 7, 2020.
