Bhubaneswar: Following the inclusion of the Agriculture department and the KALIA scheme under the transformative governance agenda of 'Mo Sarkar' initiative, Odisha Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo today said that all measures will be taken to increase the income of farmers.
"We will aim to increase agricultural production and its contribution to the State's economy. We will work harder than what we had been doing so far," said Sahoo adding that the new agricultural policy of the government will focus on doubling the income of farmers by preparing a proper action plan.
He further said that a database will be prepared which will comprise details of the landless farmers and sharecroppers. The database will reportedly be made taking into account details of the farmers enrolled under the KALIA scheme, National Food Security programme and Biju Swastya Kalyan Yojana. Aadhaar and mobile numbers of landless farmers and sharecroppers will also be added to the database which will be prepared by April 2020.
The State government has also directed the officials of all the programmes under the Agriculture department to share progress reports of the schemes by December 31 and January 1 on websites and mobile apps, respectively.
Besides, to implement the AMA KRUSHI project in the fisheries and animal resources development, the State government will engage around 3,224 SHGs. “There is a target to double the income of 78,000 farmers in fisheries and animal resources sector,” Sahoo added.
