Bhubaneswar: After witnessing 4000-plus daily positives for over a week, Odisha witnessed a slight downtrend with a single-day spike of 3922 new cases in the last 24 hours. With the surge, the infection tally in the State reached 209374 on Sunday.
Of the fresh cases, 2309 patients are from quarantine, while 1613 are local contact cases, informed State I&PR department.
The death toll has mounted to 797 as 14 more patients succumbed to the virus during the period. State Health and Family Welfare Department informed three COVID-19 positive patients died in Cuttack, 3 in Khordha district (including 2 from Bhubaneswar), two deaths each were reported from Jajpur and Kendrapara districts. Gajapati, Bolangir, Dhenkanal, and Subarnapur registered one death each.

As per the information shared by I&PR department, maximum 818 cases were reported from Khordha district followed by Cuttack (380 new cases), Keonjhar (212), Angul (200), Puri (184) and Bargarh (154 new cases).

Official reports reveal 49049 samples were tested on Saturday for COVID-19 that include 7046 RT-PCR, 41936 samples via Antigen testing, and 67 samples via Truenat testing, taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the state to 3111766.
