Odisha Reports 2602 New Covid-19 Cases, 10 Deaths In 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: The number of Covid-19 cases in Odisha climbed to 103536 with 2602 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll has also risen to 492 with 10 more patients succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours. The State's active cases have now surged to 29758 while recoveries stand at 73233, informed the State I & PR Department.

Three COVID deaths each were reported from Khurda (one in Bhubaneswar) and Kandhamal districts while Ganjam, Nayagarh, Rayagada and Sundergarh districts reported 1 death each.

Of the fresh cases reported from across 30 districts, 1561 were detected from various quarantine centres while 1041 are local contact cases.

According to the data shared by I & PR department, Khordha reported the highest 616 new coronavirus cases followed by Cuttack (236), Ganjam (190), Kendrapara (128), Koraput (127), Jajpur (103) and Balasore (103).

The Health and Family Welfare Department has shared the details of 10 Covid-19 positive patients who succumbed while under treatment in hospitals.

1. A 56-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension, Post Angioplasty status.
2. A 48-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
3. A 43-year-old male of Kandhamal who was also suffering from Chronic kidney Disease, Diabetes & Hypertension.
4. A 58-year-old male of Kandhamal who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
5. A 42-year-old male of Kandhamal who was also suffering from Hepatitis B & Typhoid fever.
6. A 60-year-old female of Khordha district.
7. A 60-year-old female of Khordha district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
8. A 73 year-old-male of Nayagarh district.
9. A 54 year-old-male of Rayagada district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
10. A 71 year-old-male of Sundergarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.

The Health Department further informed that 57877 Covid-19 tests, including 5994 RT-PCR, 51707 antigen and 176 TrueNat were conducted in the State in the last 24 hours.
