Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to witness a steep rise in COVID-19 cases with the State reporting 2239 new positives in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 64,533. The death toll has risen to 362 as nine more patients succumbed to the virus.
Of the new cases, 1,416 were reported from quarantine centres and 823 are local contact cases.
According to Information and Public Relations department, Khordha reported highest 419 cases, followed by Ganjam with 246 cases, Nayagarh (147), Balasore (130), Rayagada (120) and Cuttack (117).

With the spike in COVID-19 cases, the active case count stands at 20,339, while 43,779 have so far recovered from the disease.
Apart from the new cases, Odisha also reported nine COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 362.

According to Health and Family Welfare department, Ganjam reported highest three deaths, followed by Raygada (2), while Khurdha, Sambalpur, Malkangiri and Balasore reported one death each.
The deceased include:
- A 68-year-old male of Ganjam who was also suffering from Coronary Artery Disease, Hypertension, Parkinsonism, Obstructive Sleep Apnea
- A 68-year-old female of Ganjam district
- A 79-year-old male of Ganjam district
- A 65-year-old male of Rayagada district
- A 68-year-old male of Rayagada district who was also suffering from hypertension
- A 62-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Carcinoma Prostate with bone metastasis
- An 81-year-old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension
- A 61-year-old male of Malkangiri district who was also suffering from Diabetes & hypertension & Bronchial Asthma
- A 42-year-old male of Sambalpur district
The additional chief secretary of Health Department Pradipta Mohapatra informed that 50,525 COVID-19 tests - 5106 RT-PCR, 45343 antigen tests and 76 TruNat-based tests were conducted in the State in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative test count to 10,09,454.
