Cuttack: The millennium city of Cuttack on Monday reported its highest single-day spike of 167 COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 2,437. As per the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), 25 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Nimba Sahi area, Chauliaganj (ward No 42), which was declared containment zone today.

Apart from the containment zone cases, 106 were home quarantine cases, 15 institutional quarantine and 21 local contact cases were reported from the city.

It is pertinent to mention here that it is for the fourth time this month that Cuttack's daily cases are in three digits.

Earlier, the city had witnessed a single-day spike of 143 cases on August 5, 119 on August 16 and 115 cases on August 13.

Apart from Cuttack, COVID-19 cases are also rising in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area where 198 new cases were reported today. With this, the total COVID-19 tally in Bhubaneswar reached 5,487.

While the active cases in the city stand at 1,887, as many as 3,567 COVID-19 positive patients have recovered. The COVID-19 death toll in the city is 27.
