Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported a single-day spike of 3600 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative caseload to 226334. The death toll rose to 875 with 16 more fatalities in the State.

Of the fresh cases, 2109 patients are from quarantine, while 1491 are local contact cases, added State I&PR department.

As many as 766 new cases were detected in Khordha district followed by Cuttack which reported 358 new cases, Mayurbhanj (156), Kendrapara (129), Sonepur (129), Sambalpur (126), Nabarangpur (116), Puri (115), Balasore (107), Bargarh (106), Keonjhar (106) and Angul (100).

“Regret to inform the demise of sixteen #COVID19 positive patients while under treatment in hospitals,” informed the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The H& FW Department shared the details of the patients who succumbed while under treatment at hospitals.

  1. A 60-year-old female of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  2. An 80-year-old female of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  3. A 47-year-old male of Bargarh who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  4. A 75-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  5. A 41-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Hypertension.
  6. A 46-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
  7. An 82-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  8. A 64-year-old female of Cuttack district.
  9. A 57-year-old female of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  10. A 67-year-old female of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  11. A 32-year-old male of Kalahandi district.
  12. An 84-year old female of Khordha district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Parkinsonism.
  13. A 67-year-old male of Khordha district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertension.
  14. A 76-year-old male of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  15. A 62-year-old male of Nayagarh district.
  16. A 52-year-old female of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes.

The Covid-19 active cases in the State stood at 35326 while 190080 have so far recovered from the disease.

Around 48,217 samples were tested on Thursday for COVID-19 that include 8917 RT-PCR, 39,338 Antigen, and 88 Truenat, taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the state to 3348861.
