Baripada/Keonjhar: As many as three persons were killed across Odisha on Wednesday due to the heavy downpour leading to overflowing of several rivers.

An elderly woman was swept away by Gangahar river water while crossing inundated road near Badasahi Manatri Temple in Baripada today. Locals reportedly alerted the woman not to cross the submerged road due to heavy flow of water but she ventured into it. Though some people tried to save her, they failed, said sources.

In Mayurbhanj, a truck driver was killed after his vehicle got swept away by Biatarani river water near Karanjia while crossing an inundated road. The body of the deceased was later fished out by police and locals, said sources.

In Keonjhar, body of a person was found in a nullah near Janjali under Anandpur Police limits in the district on Wednesday.  The man was earlier swept away along with his car while he was trying to cross the overflowing Janjali nullah.
