Bhubaneswar/Kendrapara: In what could have been life-threatening for an Ola cab driver, four miscreants allegedly attempted to decamp with the car by tying the driver’s hands and legs after boarding the vehicle in Bhubaneswar.

As per reports, the miscreants after booking the cab for an outstation ride in the wee hours of Tuesday boarded it in Bhubaneswar at around 3:40 am asking the driver to take them to Pattamundai in Kendrapara. However, just before they were nearing Salepur market, the occupants tied the driver’s hands and legs, gagged, before throwing him in the boot of the car.

Surprisingly, the back door opened when they were 200 mts away from Pattamundai Police Station and the driver fell down from the moving car. Soon, locals rushed to rescue him and a few of them chased the cab and intercepted it within some distance.

Even as the miscreants dumped the car and tried to run away, three were nabbed and later handed over to police. One person however managed to flee the spot.

The Ola driver reportedly hails from Pipili area of Puri district.

While Pattamundai Police has arrested the three robbers, the fourth member is still absconding, sources said.
