Nayagarh: A pall of gloom descended on Budhipatna village in Nayagarh district after the body of three-year-old girl Swati reached the locality on Wednesday.

After completion of SNT test at Cuttack, the body of the minor girl was brought to her native village.

The minor girl was found dead and her body was recovered from a pond located a few metres away from her house. The exact cause of her death is still unclear.

Swati went missing Friday last (December 11) and a massive search operation was launched by the police and Odisha Fire Services personnel to trace her.

Asked whether she was murdered or died due to some other reasons, a senior police official said that things will get clear after the autopsy reports are obtained.

Sources said Swati, daughter of Sanjay Sahoo, who was playing outside her house went missing between 2-2.30 PM. Frantic attempts made by her family members to trace her did not yield any result, forcing them to lodge a missing complaint with Ranpur Police.
