Balasore: Unidentified miscreants decamped with Rs 2.5 lakh from a person who was on his way to deposit the cash in AXIS Bank at Nilagiri of Balasore district on Thursday.
As per reports, the miscreants looted the cash from one Purnachandra Mohapatra who had withdrawn the money from State Bank of India (SBI).
“I had withdrawn the money and kept it inside sidebox of my two-wheeler. While I was going to deposit the cash in Axis bank, a miscreant came and snatched the bag. Though I tried to chase him, he fled on a motorcycle with another miscreant,” alleged Mohapatra.
Police have started an investigation into the loot incident after a complaint was lodged by the victim. All the CCTV footage is also being examined, police said.
Earlier, the miscreants had looted Rs 3.2 lakh after firing at a biker near Khannagar under Balasore Sadar police limits on December 28.
The person was reportedly on his way to deposit cash in the bank when three miscreants opened fire at him before fleeing with the cash.
