Sonepur: A fire broke out at a tea stall near Sub-Collector chhak in Birmaharajpur area of Sonepur district late last night.

According to sources, a fire broke out at the tea shop owned by one Pitambar Thanapati of Champamal village late in the night and the flame subsequently engulfed a gas cylinder triggering a loud explosion.

The roof of the tea shop was blown away in the explosion and all the items at the tea stall were gutted in the fire. However, no injury or loss of life was reported in the mishap.

On being informed, fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame. Birmaharajpur police also arrived at the spot and launched a probe.

The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
