Bhubaneswar: In a bid to minimise crowd at Regional Transport Offices (RTO) across the State amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Odisha government on Wednesday introduced online renewal on driving licence (DL) services for customers.

People can avail the DL services online by visiting www.parivahan.gov.in and. Citizens can apply for name, address change, issue of duplicate DL, change of biometric, replacement of DL, issue of extract of DL, surrender of Class of Vehicle (CoV), issue of No Objection Certificate (NOC), and surrender of NOC through the portal.

However, online computerised test for learner’s driving licence and DL skill test will not be conducted, a notification issued by the State Road Transport department read. Odisha had suspended DL and LL tests with effect from March 18, 2020 following the COVID-19 outbreak.

It may be noted that the government has already extended the validity of various essential motor vehicle documents. The fitness certificate, registration certificate of non-transport vehicles, driving license, learners licence expired/ expiring between February 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020 will be treated valid till September 30, 2020.

Till August 5, Odisha has reported 39,018 COVID-19 cases of which 13,011 are active. While 25,738 recovered from the disease, the virus has claimed 225 lives in the State.
