Odisha Hospitals Turning Into COVID Hotspots; Cuttack SCB, Sishu Bhawan Report New Cases

Bhubaneswar: Increasing COVID-19 cases among the frontline fighters in Odisha have raised serious concerns as the viral infection among them keeps rising with each passing day. So far, the State has recorded over 200 positive cases from hospitals alone.

Right from June 24, when a patient in Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (ARHCC) was found positive for COVID-19 and a few days later, two nurses of the centre also tested positive till today, the 5th of June, a total of 107 persons including staff and patients of the hospital have already got infected by the virus.

In SCB Medical College and Hospital, 33 patients have tested positive for the virus so far. On Sunday, 11 new cases were reported from the hospital which includes 4 patients from isolation ward and 7 hospital staff.

Besides, a child admitted at Sishu Bhawan medical in Cuttack was also found positive for the virus on Sunday.

After the death of a COVID-19 patient in Rourkela's Ispat General Hospital, three doctors and a few staff of the hospital have been sent on 14-day quarantine.

Though COVID-19 cases have not been detected in MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, the district administration has already geared up to tackle any such situation as the COVID situation in Ganjam district is alarming.

While eight doctors of AIIMS Bhubaneswar were earlier found COVID-19 positive, the director of the central government hospital on Sunday informed that 11 more people who tested positive for the virus are undergoing treatment.

Earlier, a private hospital in Bhubaneswar was sealed after its 27 patients and staff tested positive for COVID-19. Besides, four more staff of two private hospitals in the Capital city also found positive for the virus today.
